2012 Ural Yamal Includes Oar, Just In The Event

The 2012 Ural Yamal Limited Edition motorcycle, from Siberian maker IMZ-Ural, includes a sidecar and a paddle as regular gear. Yes, as in oar. This survival cycle is prepared for emergencies.

Concept of the bike’s title

Translated, Yamal really means “the end of the world.” It is the title of a ship used in Siberia to crush the ice in the waters as well as the title of a peninsula in Russia that has a ton of ice on it.

For the manufacturer, that seemed the perfect image for this cycle, sidecar combination. It comes with a flashy orange paint job and a fang-filled mouth decal that emulates the image on the renowned icebreaker.

Looking at special benefits

The manufacturer calls the Ural Yamal “tough as a Russian AK-47.” There are special emergency attributes built into the solid bike.

The lower part of the sidecar body and the fenders of the bike have an additional 3M coating to give them added protection in severe weather. The sidecar also has dual fog lights to cut through the mist. It has hand guards and an accessory fairing and wide wind screen that give driver and rider more protection from extreme elements and conditions. It also has a spare knobby tire and two-wheel-drive on command, for when the surfaces get slick.

When all else fails

The bike comes with a paddle to help you if you ever get stuck, though the sidecar does not turn into a boat you can use in case there is a flood of some sort.

A motto could be found on the paddle. It states:

In case of emergency:

– If you are reading this then you have wandered out too far, and the ice didn’t hold — we’re very sorry. In an effort to make it back alive, you may want to follow these survival tips:

– Abandon all hope — it will help you focus. – Detach sidecar, jump in, and then paddle like heck. – Rescue your dog — they’re better at finding their way home than you are. – Should you find yourself sinking, use your seat cushion as a flotation device.

Here’s the fine print:

– Ural cannot be held responsible for global warming. – Water damage not covered under warranty. – This vehicle is not a boat, nor is the paddle or any part of the motorcycle intended to be used as a flotation device. – Survival may depend on other factors. Your wife was right, who goes fishing in winter?

If you need to get rid of a bear or two, you can use the paddle to fight.

Available to anybody who wants it
